ssangyong-c200Korean automaker SsangYong will debut a small crossover and a new implementation of its diesel hybrid technology at the 2009 Seoul Motor Show. The crossover, an “almost production ready” version of the C200 that debuted in Paris last year, is styled by Giugiaro’s ItalDesign and will see dealers showrooms later this year.

It is similar in size, SsangYong claims, to the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV, but longer than the VW Tiguan. The C200 relies on a 2.0-liter diesel that produces 175 hp with both six-speed manual and automatic transmissions expected as options.

SsangYong will also debut a diesel-powered hybrid variant of its Kyron SUV. The company claims its hybrid technology offers a fuel efficiency increase of 25% relative to vehicles in the same segment. Further advancements in the technology, SsangYong boasts, will offer a 30% fuel efficiency increase and “at least” a 50% drop in emissions.

The Seoul Motor Show begins April 3.
