2010_honda_insight_hybridThe 2010 Honda Insight is no doubt one of the most praised Honda Hybrid electric cars on the market. It features a full hybrid system offering great fuel efficiency. Insight has 5 doors and seats up to five passengers.

Honda engineers designed the Insight with low center gravity, which allows the car to be more lightweight than other models. The Insight was designed and built from the ground up. The eco-friendly vehicle also features a new projector-beam headlight which provides better roadway lighting for greater visibility.

The Insight Hybrid is equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which substitutes the gears found in more traditional transmissions and replaces them with a metal push-belt running between a pair of variable-width pulleys. The CVT includes the Drive-by-Wire throttle system which constantly adjusts to the most efficient drive ratio possible depending on the torque load. The CVT technology provides the Insight with better fuel economy and acceleration in comparison to conventional transmissions.

One of the most talked about features in the Honda Hybrid is the enhancement technology called Eco Assist. The car is equipped with a dash-mounted ECON button, also known as the Efficiency Booster, which minimizes the overall energy use while delivering maximum fuel economy. It is known as the feedback system which will inform the driver of bad habits during braking and strong acceleration to save gas.

The motor is a high efficient 1.3-liter, i-VTECH 4-cyliner engine. It offers the car with a 41 combined MPG. The Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) is the vehicle’s electric motor which works in conjunction with the gasoline engine and supplies additional power and torque.

The Insight model is known as the LX and has a starting price of $19,800. The EX model offers the same features as the LX version, but includes Vehicle Stability Assist and Cruise Control, and is priced at $21,300. The EX can also come with the Honda Navigation system with Voice Recognition for $23,100.
