Once I called a Prius dealership near the airport. Grabbed a cab to the dealership and got my rental for a few bucks cheaper than it would have been from one of the major rental car places. More recently I was traveling, had a car reserved but asked if they had any hybrids. I got a Prius for the same price as an economy car. It might have been a slow week or something but I was very pleased! I have several experiences renting hybrids.
